Anna Hako is a Finnish milliner based in Helsinki.

From a young age she has been interested in accessories and artisan crafts. After years of making things for her own enjoyment, she decided to learn the profession of a milliner.

In 2011, Anna was accepted to Helsinki Vocational School to study millinery. During her studies there, she interned and worked with artists and fashion professionals in Helsinki and Berlin, Germany while studying full time. In 2013, Anna graduated with a degree in Millinery and Accessory Making.

She then continued her studies in London at Kensington and Chelsea College's highly-regarded millinery course. She graduated  in summer 2014 with a Higher National Diploma in Millinery. Before her move back to Helsinki, she briefly interned with the London-based milliner Justin Smith.

Anna is hugely inspired by the Victorian era, mourning fashion, and the gothic subcultures. These things are the main inspiration for her headpieces; Through elements that are beautiful, sweet and dark she conveys the beauty in the macabre. Her work explores the contrast between light and dark and the marriage of life and death with delicate and elaborate details.

Quality and good craftsmanship are something Anna values highly, which guarantees that all her work is made to the best quality.

Re-using materials and giving a new life to older pieces of clothing is close to her heart, and many of her pieces feature vintage or other re-used materials.
